-07-2026 till 11-07-2024: After several disappointing fishing holidays, we went to Norway last week. And let me just say right away, all the holidays of the past period are immediately made up for with this one. From day 1, everything went well: the weather, the river fishing, and sea fishing from the shore, everywhere we managed to catch fish.
-07-2026: After an easy trip, we went fishing right away in the river next to the cabin upon arrival. After two casts, I managed to catch my first trout, and this wouldn’t be the last of the vacation.
-07-2026: After a nice walk, we came to a mountain lake where you could fish for a day for 5 euros. It's unimaginable how many trout swam here. We also saw a large trout or salmon swimming that we unfortunately couldn't catch.
In the evening we went fishing along the fjord. After a few small bites, I finally got a nice fish on the line.
-07-2026: On Monday we walked into the woods near the cabin. The plan was to eventually go fishing in the mountain lake. But because I spent too much time fishing in the river, the lake turned out to be too far away.
-07-2026: After a nice walk, we went fishing in the village of Vikaneset after dinner. Sometimes as a fisherman, you get lucky and are in the right place at the right time because tonight it went off completely. Cod, mackerel, haddock, and grey gurnard were caught.
-07-2026: The plan was to head into the mountains early in the morning, but since the tunnel after Mostraumen was closed until 12:00, we spent a few hours fishing in the fjord first. Even this turned out not to be a disappointment. Because besides cod, mackerel, and haddock, I also managed to catch a nice sea trout.
-07-2026: Today the wind was supposed to die down, so that's exactly why we chose to drive along the coast now. The pollocks and cod failed to show up. But the wrasse more than made up for it. What beautiful and especially strong fish these are.
-07-2026: The last day before we had to travel back home, we drove down the fjord by our cabin. After a pollock and a grey gurnard, it was another ballan wrasse that made the day good again. Unbelievable how such a small fish can bend the rod so much and make the drag scream.
In the evening, we went fishing for another hour at the cottage in the fjord, and I managed to catch another nice ling.
-07-2026: Fortunately, we have cooler weather in the Netherlands again. It is much more pleasant for both the angler and the fish. Personally, however, I still find the water a bit too warm for predator fishing.
-07-2026: There is a fishing pier near my home where I’ve been wanting to fish for years. Today, I finally went to check it out. Although I only had one bite, the bream I managed to catch was a really beautiful one.
