05-04-2026: In 2025, I already managed to catch the first tench in March. This year it took two more weeks. But today the tench finally wanted to bite, and I managed to catch 2. Hopefully, a few more will come in the next two months. Because I continue to find this one of the most beautiful fish in the Netherlands.

24-04-2026 till 30-04-2026: The first big holiday of 2026. This time we went to the island of Mon in Denmark. The plan was to catch a few beautiful sea trout, but unfortunately, this challenge failed. I spent too long fishing at the wrong spot. And when I finally stood in the right spot on the last evening, I managed to lose one after three followers. The positive news is that I did manage to catch two beautiful flounders and, in a trout pond, a nice pike in addition to two trout. Weather-wise, we couldn't have been luckier. Plenty of sun and little wind. To make a long story short, it was a fantastic week, only the fishing was disappointing.

Trout fishing in Denmark works a bit differently than in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, trout are released during fishing. In Denmark, the fish are released once a week. If you stop fishing before a release takes place, the chance of catching something is much smaller than if you start fishing right after a release. On Tuesday, we drove to the trout pond and saw one angler catch a trout. When Friday arrived, there was a lot of catching in the morning, and I also managed to land two. When the wind died down, the trout stopped biting. Fortunately, I did get some action after a pike managed to find my bunch of worms.
